A Letter From Our Program Director
Welcome to The UMass Chan Medical School Vascular Neurology Fellowship! UMass Chan Medical School, in cooperation with the UMass Memorial Medical Center, hosts a one year ACGME-accredited Vascular Neurology Fellowship program offering two positions annually. UMass Memorial Medical Center is a Joint Commision accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center, seeing about 1000 patients per year on the acute stroke service. We offer a clinically based fellowship with a comprehensive curriculum where fellows can gain experience treating a wide array of neurovascular conditions. Fellows receive training in acute stroke treatment, secondary stroke prevention, neuroradiology, neuro critical care, telestroke, neurosonology, and cardiac imaging. Additionally, our faculty, curriculum and clinical facilities provide opportunities in basic and clinical research where fellows have the opportunity to be sub investigators for multi-center clinical trials.
The stroke team at UMass Memorial Medical Center is staffed by eight vascular neurologists led by Brian Silver, MD, Department of Neurology Vice Chair of Clinical Operations, and Majaz Moonis, MD, director of Stroke Services, and the Vascular Neurology Fellowship program.
We are looking for candidates that are enthusiastic about clinical care, interested in research, education and stroke systems of care. Our goal is to graduate well-rounded vascular neurologists that can go on to become leaders in the field.
