Department of Medicine Hosts Students from the UMass Chan Summer Learning Opportunity

The Department of Medicine was thrilled to host two students as part of the UMass Chan Summer Learning Opportunity this year.

Rising second-year medical students Bradford Grant from Morehouse School of Medicine and Kevin Saint-Fort from State University of New York Downstate spent four weeks rotating through various services. The students’ schedule was coordinated by P.Y. Fan, MD, professor of medicine in the Division of Renal Medicine and vice chair for education in the Department of Medicine, and Terrell Johnson, MD, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice in the Department of Medicine.

We thank all the DoM faculty who worked with Bradford and Kevin. “The students were extremely enthused about their experience and very grateful for the warmth and support from the DoM attendings, residents, and staff,” said Dr. Fan.

A special thanks, also, to Scott Kopec, MD, associate professor of medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care and director of the Internal Medicine Residency, for advising the students about the many exciting opportunities that our Internal Medicine Residency offers.
