In cases of sexual assault, the Massachusetts Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program provides trauma-informed, expert forensic nursing care. For assaults that occurred within the past 5 days, SANE nurses may provide a medical forensic examination and forensic evidence collection kit.
