Inaugural Melvin S. Cutler Lecture - presented by Sir Michael Marmot
Date Posted: martes, abril 12, 2016Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London (UCL), Director of the UCL Institute of Health Equity and a leading expert on health inequalities both in the UK and globally.
Sir Michael is a renowned researcher and gifted speaker. He is President of the World Medical Association and Lown Visiting Professor at Harvard University, when he is conducting a review of health inequalities across the Americas for the World Health Organizations (WHO) Pan American Heath Organization. He conducted reviews of health inequalities for the WHO’s European region in 2012 and for the British Government in 2010. Recommendations from the latter, known as the ‘Marmot Review’, are now being implemented in three-quarters of local authorities in England.
THE HEALTH GAP provides a comprehensive program of evidence-based, life saving ideas that shows how to move beyond endless discussion of economic growth as a measure of social success. Sir Michael’s evidence from around the world shows that we need to change the way we think about health, and indeed society, radically. Creating fairer societies will enable us all to live longer and in better health.
